TÜV NORD Akademie is focussing on innovative technologies to make vocational training fit for the future. The focus is on integrating virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) into the training programme. Supported by the expertise of Torsten Fell and the learning platform from 3spin Learning, a comprehensive blended learning portfolio is being developed that incorporates VR and AI as an integral component.

3spin Learning, a start-up company that has been part of the TÜV NORD GROUP portfolio since 2023, offers customised VR training for industrial customers. These are based on a no-code platform that enables companies to create their own VR training courses without in-depth programming knowledge.

Vision and realisation

The 3spin Learning platform opens up new possibilities for learning with VR and AI. It offers flexible learning scenarios that can be easily customised and promote collaborative and AI-supported learning. Learners benefit from realistic environments that enable hands-on experiences and go beyond traditional eLearning formats.

Melanie Rudolph, Head of Corporate Development at TÜV NORD Akademie, emphasises: ‘Our aim is to support companies in the implementation of VR applications.’ The academy sees VR as a supplement to real-life training that is too risky, impracticable, less effective or too costly. In addition to standard VR training courses, TÜV NORD Akademie offers customers individualised learning concepts. The learning requirements determine the concept and the learning environment produced.

Future prospects

With the introduction of modern VR technology, TÜV NORD Akademie is creating new opportunities to integrate effective learning into training strategies. Torsten Fell: ‘The holistic, flexible and user-friendly system brings about a change in the implementation of immersive technology in vocational training.’ Fell is contributing his many years of experience in VR technology to the project.

By the end of the year, the academy plans to offer over 30 hard skills seminars and 20 soft skills training courses with VR components. By the end of 2025, the programme is to be expanded to 100 courses. The focus is on ‘learning by doing’, which is digitalised through VR. Companies can obtain information and advice on the use of VR training free of charge.
