TÜV NORD partnered with the organization Ingenieure ohne Grenzen (translated as Engineers without borders) to support Eastern Vishakha English Medium School in Boyapalem (Vizag) with consistent and economic supply of electricity.
Ingenieure ohne Grenzen is an organization which undertakes projects to support people to improve their living conditions by providing solutions to acute problems in the areas of water, sanitation, energy supply and basic infrastructural needs.
The school in Boyapalem receives donations for its operational functions and its primary purpose of providing education and is supported by United Christian Interior Ministries in India. The school receives a weak electricity supply and the necessary supply is only made available from an emergency diesel generator. The associated cost to be borne on daily basis for this source is very expensive. Hence an alternative source of energy was necessary.
Sensing this requirement, solutions to provide measures to implement more sustainable and cost-effective power system were developed and a solar power system is implemented by Ingenieure ohne Grenzen and the same is funded by TÜV NORD. The inauguration of this electricity system took place on 12th May 2015 at Eastern Vishakha English Medium School in Boyapalem, Vizag. 3 KW Solar Power System with 12 Solar Panels worth 250 KW along with batteries, Inverter with 3KVA capacity and 3.5 KVA power systems (3.5 KVA inverter with batteries) have been installed in the school to ensure continuous supply of electricity.
With a view to compliment TUV NORD’s efforts towards sustainability and support the idea of fulfilling responsibilities towards people, environment and technology, TUV India visited the school in Boyapalem.
Mr. KVV Satyanarayana, head of TUV India’s Hyderabad branch along with Mr. Rokkala Srinivasu – Resident Representative from Vizag visited Eastern Vishakha English Medium School, Boyapalem and participated in the inauguration ceremony.
