CERTIAEND, a Spanish certification company, claimed on its website on 14 July 2015 with regard to certification for non-destructive testing (NDT) personnel, that they do not recognize certificates issued by TÜV NORD Systems as valid without accreditation. TÜV NORD Systems and its fully-owned affiliate in Spain, TÜV NORD Cualicontrol, make the following statement:
- Issuance of certificates according to the relevant standard, ISO 9712, does NOT require any accreditation;
- Qualification and certification of NDT personnel have been performed worldwide according to state-of-the-art industry standards by TÜV NORD Systems for more than 20 years;
- All certificates issued by TÜV NORD Systems as a third-party organization are therefore valid and fulfil all ISO 9712 requirements;
- We consider it essential to ensure an open and fair market for qualification and certification of NDT personnel in the best interests of customers.
