TÜViT is a pioneer in the testing of Industrial Security according to IEC 62443-2-4

TÜV Informationstechnik GmbH has reviewed the SCADA solution PROZA NET of the Croatian system integrator KONČAR-KET with respect to IT security. At the end of February 2019, TÜV NORD CERT confirmed conformity with IEC 62443-2-4 with a certificate for the first time worldwide.

The IEC 62443 series of standards (Industrial Communication Networks – Networks and System Security) is increasingly developing into a recognized standard on the international stage. It takes into consideration the special security requirements of the process and automation industry. With the help of IEC 62443 it can be shown that operators, integrators and manufacturers make use of contemporary cyber security standards for industrial control and automation systems.

"TÜV Informationstechnik realized the potential of the technical standard at the beginning of 2018 already," says Christian Freckmann, Head of the Business Security & Privacy Department. For this reason, the company launched an innovation project and developed service packages for the entire family of standards. "We have regularly considered individual development steps with our customers," explains Freckmann. It was worth it. In the fall of 2018, TÜV Informationstechnik was commissioned by the Croatian system integrator KONČAR-KET to review the SCADA system PROZA NET with respect to its conformity with IEC 62443 2-4. Section 2-4 of the family of standards specifically lays down requirements for service providers of industrial automation and control systems. In addition to the document review, a Cyber Security Assessment was also carried out to determine to what extent the documentation had been implemented 1:1 in the product.

Meanwhile, PROZA NET has been successfully certified by TÜV NORD CERT. This is the world's first certificate according to the new IEC 62443-2-4 series of standards. TÜV Informationstechnik is currently expanding its role as a pioneer. "With PROZA LKKU, the Essen-based IT security specialist is currently reviewing another system from KONČAR. With this, we are continuing the successful cooperation between the two companies," stresses Stjepan Sučić, Development Business Unit Director at KONČAR-KET.
