From historical times, India has been a country believing in the fact that consumption of a wholesome meal leads to a healthy & sustainable living. With this, eating safe & healthy food is critical in the context of increasing food-borne illness and lack of nutritional aspects in human food consumption. With his purview in mind, Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) came up with Eat Right Campus initiative (ERC). This initiative led by FSSAI aims to promote safe, healthy and sustainable food in campuses such as schools, universities, colleges, workplaces, hospitals, tea estates etc. across the country. The broader objective is to improve the health of people and the planet and promote social and economic development of the nation.
The tagline 'Sahi Bhojan. Behtar Jeevan' thus forms the foundation of this movement. The Eat Right India movement is based on three key themes/pillars - Eat Safe, Eat Healthy, and Eat Sustainable.
This initiative was well embraced by the well-known multinational Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd (DICV). The organization recognized the need for providing healthy and safe meals with two meals a day per shift to all its employees. DICV have now been associated with TUV India Pvt Ltd for nearly a decade now for upgrading their food safety practices thus becoming the company in the year 2021 with complete COVID 19 precautions to get the “EAT RIGHT CAMPUS” award.
With the successful completion of the audit, DICV got prestigiously awarded & appreciated for its commitment to food safety and hygiene by the FSSAI District officer, Kanchipuram & Chengalpet, Ms Anuradha T to Mr Muthu Maruthachalam – Vice President, DICV Supply Chain & Mr Sanjay Kumar, Head Facility Manager along with Mr Arumugam L, AGM – Employee Service & Mr S.K Prasad – Employee Services as “EAT RIGHT CAMPUS” with a five star rating in excellent category scoring 96% in the final audit complying to safe, healthy & sustainable food for their employees.
This milestone was effectively supported exhibiting 100% client satisfaction & quality driven approach in line with FSSAI requirements by TUV India team members: Dr Mythreyi Muthuvelappan – In charge Food safety & hygiene ,Mr Ashok Kumar – food safety auditor, Mr Aamin Matharluck – food safety auditor, Mr Ruban Jayedass – Business Development Manager, Ms Asha Sridhar – DGM Food safety services, Mr Pradeep Kumar – AVP Certification, Tamil Nadu & Kerala & Ms Brinda Sriram – In charge Operations, Food safety services .
The commitment to food safety by the DICV management was so high that within a record time of 10 days they completed their self- assessment and invited TUV India as a chosen certification body to conduct final audits on 23rd and 24th February 2021.
