With the commissioning of the new heat pump test rig, TÜV NORD has significantly expanded its range of testing services in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation technology and can now also test heat pumps for use in a variety of areas, ranging from single-family homes to industrial and commercial applications. TÜV NORD is thus making an important contribution to the heat and energy transition. The company has invested 1.5 million euros in the new testing environment.
At the same time as the first tests for customers, the adjustment is running at full speed. Vera Gräff, Head of the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Ventilation Technology Laboratory at TÜV NORD: “We are looking forward to working with state-of-the-art technology in the future. Tests on behalf of customers are already being carried out and more are being planned. Test slots can be requested, the capacities are there.”
The new test rig can carry out performance measurements on heat pumps up to 200 kW at +7° C and temperatures down to -35° C outside. Together with the other existing test rigs at the TÜV NORD CAMPUS in Essen, a complete range of third-party tests for refrigeration and air conditioning technology has been created, including measurement of energy efficiency and noise levels. The focus here is, for example, on efficiency at a wide range of ambient temperatures, such as those that occur in installed systems throughout the year.
