TÜV NORD GROUP acquires a stake in the growth company 3spin Learning, based in Darmstadt, thereby tapping into the rapidly growing field of Extended Reality (XR).

XR (extended reality) encompasses both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). 3spin Learning is a leading provider of a platform for XR and artificial intelligence (AI) that makes it possible to easily create and quickly scale experience-oriented or immersive digital training courses.

Learning by doing: using XR to convey complex content digitally and comprehensibly

A particular focus of participation is on the area of immersive learning, which uses XR to help convey complex content to users in an understandable way. In today's professional world, practical learning is often only possible to a limited extent, although knowledge acquisition through real actions is most effective. Real-life learning locations are often difficult to access, mentors are limited and many learning activities are potentially dangerous. Augmented and virtual reality make it possible for the first time to digitize hands-on learning that is fast, infinitely repeatable and available worldwide.

Many companies are already working on prototypes in this area and are seeing success, but are failing due to technical hurdles and scaling costs. 3spin Learning's solution reduces the usual costs by using a “no-code” platform as a basis. This allows users to create and publish training courses without any programming knowledge. Concrete application scenarios for immersive learning through AR / VR and AI-supported hand-on learning are the areas of occupational safety, training and onboarding. Customers of the solution include Pfizer, Lufthansa and E.ON.

TÜV NORD GROUP establishes XR Hub

The long-term focus on the field of virtual and augmented reality includes other fields of application in addition to immersive learning. An “XR Hub” is to be jointly established as a competence center. The TÜV NORD GROUP and 3spin Learning are thus taking an important step towards the future with regard to digital learning environments.

The TÜV NORD GROUP's People & Empowerment business unit will be responsible for and pursue the joint strategy of the two companies.
