TÜV NORD GROUP is family friendly

The TÜV NORD GROUP has once again successfully completed the re-certification of the “Work and Family” audit.

Essen/Hamburg/Hanover: The TÜV NORD GROUP has once again successfully completed the re-certification of the ‘Work and Family’ audit. The first companies were certified between 2009 and 2012 and the topic of work-life balance was continuously developed further. In 2018, the TÜV NORD GROUP in Germany received the Group certificate.

‘We are very proud of this repeated award as a family-friendly employer. The audit process is very complex with changing focus topics and is a great challenge for our project team every time. This makes the re-certification all the more gratifying. The compatibility of work and private life is not just something we have on paper, but something we actively practise,’ says Meike Reuter, Head of HR Solutions & Governance at TÜV NORD AG.

From February to June 2024, project manager Elke Dörner and the auditor held joint discussions with works councils, employees, managers, members of the ‘Work, family and private life’ solution group and management in a dialogue process. A new action plan was developed, discussed and agreed on the basis of the core of these discussions. Group Works Council Chairman Rüdiger Sparfeld: ‘I am delighted with all those involved about the renewal of the certificate. This is an incentive for us not to let up in our commitment to work-life balance - an important building block for the Good Work Initiative.’

In particular, the flexible working hours and the option of working from home were rated positively. ‘We want to further expand the topic of flexibility in the future, make it easier to start work after parental leave and open up a dialogue between the generations,’ says Elke Dörner from TÜV NORD AG.

The ‘berufundfamilie’ audit - an initiative of the Hertie Foundation - supports companies in sustainably implementing a family and life-phase-conscious personnel policy. Various fields of action, such as working hours, work organisation, leadership skills and services for families, are examined in detail.
