Die TÜV NORD GROUP erwirbt die Mehrheit an der CE-CON GmbH mit Sitz in Bremen und weiteren Standorten in Augsburg und Wilmington (USA).
CE-CON is a service provider with a focus on machine and plant safety and offers customers a holistic portfolio of technical expertise, conformity assessment and training through to integration using cloud-based software. The acquisition strengthens TÜV NORD GROUP's position as a leading provider of functional safety.
Certification processes for functional safety are time-consuming and heavily dependent on personnel, while at the same time there is a shortage of specialists on the market and the training period for new employees is long. With the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application “CE-CON Safety”, CE-CON offers a software solution that guides its users through risk and conformity assessments in a structured manner, thereby considerably simplifying processes and leading to significant increases in efficiency.
Dr. Ralf Jung, Chairman of the Industrial Services division: “The acquisition of CE-CON GmbH is part of our growth strategy in the strategic core market of functional safety. Due to increasing digitalization, shorter development and product life cycles and the growing number of networked and automated production lines, ensuring machine and plant safety continues to gain in importance for our customers across all industries. With CE-CON, we are acquiring an established company that optimally complements our portfolio with core competencies in the areas of risk assessment, occupational safety, CE marking and technical documentation.”
“The SaaS application CE-CON Safety gives us access to scalable software for carrying out risk and conformity assessments,” says Dr. Jörn Bruhn, Head of the Manufacturing Technology operating segment. “By using the software as part of our certification projects, we will greatly simplify the process for both our customers and our own inspectors, resulting in significant time savings and efficiency gains on both sides.”
CE-CON is owner-managed by the founders and managing directors Maren Handwerk and Jörg Handwerk, who will continue to hold their positions even after the majority takeover by the TÜV NORD GROUP. “Our merger with TÜV NORD will result in significant sales synergies, especially for our CE-CON Safety software, which would not be achievable on our own,” explains CE-CON's Managing Director Maren Handwerk. “We will continue our growth course together and are convinced that we can offer our employees excellent future prospects as part of the TÜV NORD GROUP.”
