Mingyang commissions TÜV NORD with type certification.
Mingyang Smart Energy has commissioned TÜV NORD to certify the world's currently most powerful offshore wind turbine MySE18.X-260. The partners signed the type certification contract today at China Wind Power in Beijing. The certification according to the internationally valid IECRE OD-501 standard covers the rotor-nacelle assembly (RNA), i.e. rotor blades, hub and nacelle. “With the new design, Mingyang is setting standards on the international market in terms of nominal capacity and rotor diameter. We look forward to working with Mingyang on this challenging project,” says Alexander Ohff, Head of Renewable Energies at TÜV NORD. The turbine, which was developed for the international market, is characterized by its particularly high output of 18.X megawatts and a rotor diameter of 260 meters.
With the type certification, TÜV NORD verifies that the design and performance of the Mingyang plant meet the demanding international standards and guidelines. This includes a detailed assessment of the technical documentation, analysis of the structural integrity and mechanical systems, and inspection of the electrical systems. In addition, the safety aspects of the plant are examined in detail. At the same time, TÜV NORD carries out production monitoring to check whether the production of the main components and the final assembly of the hub and nacelle of the offshore wind turbine complies with the design requirements and is ready for series production. The aim of type certification is to guarantee the reliability, safety and efficiency of the wind turbine.
